Seeing the End at Step Zero: Accelerating Diffusion MLLMs via MLP Sparsity-Aware Truncation

Diffusion Multimodal Large Language Models (DMLLMs) are highly effective for multimodal reasoning, yet their inference efficiency is significantly hindered by fixed-length generation constraints. Since the actual output length is unknown, output sequences are padded to a predefined maximum length, resulting in substantial redundant computation over unnecessary [EOS] tokens. In this work, we discover that DMLLMs implicitly reveal their valid semantic boundary at the very first denoising step through a distinct shift in MLP activation sparsity. Leveraging this observation, we propose Seer, a training-free framework that detects this boundary using a Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR)-based criterion and performs one-shot truncation of the redundant suffix for all subsequent computations. To preserve these theoretical gains during batched serving, Seer incorporates a hybrid execution strategy that maximizes throughput while seamlessly accommodating dynamic sequence lengths. Experimental results demonstrate that Seer effectively eliminates padding waste, accelerating throughput by up to $\sim$31$\times$. Across 9 benchmarks, Seer robustly maintains overall performance and even improves accuracy on complex visual tasks by mitigating noise leakage (e.g., DocVQA score increases from 63.52 to 63.66), offering a highly efficient, plug-and-play solution for DMLLM acceleration.

ResilPhase: Plug-and-Play Phase Mapping and Noise-Resilient Macro-Trajectory Extrapolation for Diffusion Acceleration

The adoption of powerful diffusion models is hindered by their significant inference latency. Recent ``cache-then-forecast'' schemes alleviate this issue by accelerating DiTs using derivative-based polynomials, but they suffer from severe quality degradation at high acceleration ratios. Our analysis reveals its root cause: the discrete extrapolation performed on representations that are misaligned with the continuous diffusion trajectory and are numerically unstable. Thus, accelerated DiTs suffer from accumulated spatial errors, noisy derivative amplification, and high-order instability. We therefore reformulate accelerated inference as stable macro-trajectory extrapolation in ordinary differential equation (ODE) space. Instead of predicting intermediate features, we align forecasting with the model's Global Drift (GD), i.e., the end-to-end state evolution, thereby eliminating feature inconsistency and memory overhead. However, even this smooth macro-trajectory remains vulnerable to the derivative fallacy: its higher-order temporal derivatives are intrinsically noisy. Thus, we introduce a derivative-free barycentric Lagrange extrapolator to effectively bypass derivative instability and approximation error. We further propose a bounded Phase Mapping that regularizes the extrapolation domain, suppressing oscillatory error growth. These elements collectively constitute ResilPhase, a noise-resilient acceleration framework. Experiments on FLUX.1-dev and HunyuanVideo demonstrate state-of-the-art fidelity under aggressive acceleration ratios.

FSFM: A Biologically-Inspired Framework for Selective Forgetting of Agent Memory

For LLM agents, memory management critically impacts efficiency, quality, and security. While much research focuses on retention, selective forgetting--inspired by human cognitive processes (hippocampal indexing/consolidation theory and Ebbinghaus forgetting curve)--remains underexplored. We argue that in resource-constrained environments, a well-designed forgetting mechanism is as crucial as remembering, delivering benefits across three dimensions: (1) efficiency via intelligent memory pruning, (2) quality by dynamically updating outdated preferences and context, and (3) security through active forgetting of malicious inputs, sensitive data, and privacy-compromising content. Our framework establishes a taxonomy of forgetting mechanisms: passive decay-based, active deletion-based, safety-triggered, and adaptive reinforcement-based. Building on advances in LLM agent architectures and vector databases, we present detailed specifications, implementation strategies, and empirical validation from controlled experiments. Results show significant improvements: access efficiency (+8.49%), content quality (+29.2% signal-to-noise ratio), and security performance (100% elimination of security risks). Our work bridges cognitive neuroscience and AI systems, offering practical solutions for real-world deployment while addressing ethical and regulatory compliance. The paper concludes with challenges and future directions, establishing selective forgetting as a fundamental capability for next-generation LLM agents operating in real-world, resource-constrained scenarios. Our contributions align with AI-native memory systems and responsible AI development.

Search, Do not Guess: Teaching Small Language Models to Be Effective Search Agents

Agents equipped with search tools have emerged as effective solutions for knowledge-intensive tasks. While Large Language Models (LLMs) exhibit strong reasoning capabilities, their high computational cost limits practical deployment for search agents. Consequently, recent work has focused on distilling agentic behaviors from LLMs into Small Language Models (SLMs). Through comprehensive evaluation on complex multi-hop reasoning tasks, we find that despite possessing less parametric knowledge, SLMs invoke search tools less frequently and are more prone to hallucinations. To address this issue, we propose \policy, a lightweight fine-tuning approach that explicitly trains SLMs to reliably retrieve and generate answers grounded in retrieved evidence. Compared to agent distillation from LLMs, our approach improves performance by 17.3 scores on Bamboogle and 15.3 scores on HotpotQA, achieving LLM-level results across benchmarks. Our further analysis reveals that adaptive search strategies in SLMs often degrade performance, highlighting the necessity of consistent search behavior for reliable reasoning.
