Omni-Perception Policy Optimization for Multimodal Emotion Reasoning

We find that current emotion-oriented Omni-MLLMs still lack reliable omni-modal perception: they (i) underutilize multimodal cues in their reasoning trajectories and (ii) exhibit unfaithful behavior, often hallucinating modality-specific statements from other modalities. Building on these insights, we propose OPPO (Omni-Perception Policy Optimization), a reinforcement learning framework that explicitly optimizes multimodal perception. First, an Omni-Perception Reward decomposes ground-truth reasoning into fine-grained visual, acoustic, and emotion cues and rewards trajectories that semantically recover these cues. Second, an Omni-Perception Loss compares the policy under full and unimodally masked inputs, applying a KL penalty only to modality-specific evidence tokens to suppress cross-modal hallucination. We further introduce MEP-Bench, a diagnostic benchmark that quantifies utilization and faithfulness. Experiments show that OPPO achieves state-of-the-art performance on MER-UniBench and MME-Emotion, while substantially improving utilization and faithfulness scores on MEP-Bench, highlighting the importance of sufficient and faithful omni perception for multimodal emotion reasoning.

EgoPro-Bench: Benchmarking Personalized Proactive Interaction in Egocentric Video Streams

Existing Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) remain primarily reactive, failing to continuously perceive environments or proactively assist users. While emerging benchmarks address proactivity, they are largely confined to alert scenarios, neglect personalized context, and fail to evaluate the precise timing of human-machine interactions (HMI).In this paper, we introduce EgoPro-Bench, a novel benchmark for training and evaluating proactive interaction capabilities based on streaming egocentric videos; it comprises 2,400 videos in the evaluation set and over 12,000 videos in the training set.Unlike previous works, EgoPro-Bench leverages simulated user profiles to generate diverse user intentions and to construct high-fidelity HMI data across 12 distinct domains.Subsequently, we propose a specialized evaluation protocol and metrics, train proactive interaction models designed for efficient reasoning and low-latency interaction on streaming video data, and conduct comprehensive evaluations.Furthermore, we introduce an interaction principle termed "short thinking, better interaction", which allocates a limited token budget prior to intent recognition, thereby enhancing interaction performance. The experiments demonstrate that EgoPro-Bench substantially enhances the intention understanding capabilities of MLLMs and enables accurate identification of appropriate timings for HMI, thereby laying a solid foundation for next-generation user-centric proactive interactive agents.

EVA: Efficient Reinforcement Learning for End-to-End Video Agent

Video understanding with multimodal large language models (MLLMs) remains challenging due to the long token sequences of videos, which contain extensive temporal dependencies and redundant frames. Existing approaches typically treat MLLMs as passive recognizers, processing entire videos or uniformly sampled frames without adaptive reasoning. Recent agent-based methods introduce external tools, yet still depend on manually designed workflows and perception-first strategies, resulting in inefficiency on long videos. We present EVA, an Efficient Reinforcement Learning framework for End-to-End Video Agent, which enables planning-before-perception through iterative summary-plan-action-reflection reasoning. EVA autonomously decides what to watch, when to watch, and how to watch, achieving query-driven and efficient video understanding. To train such agents, we design a simple yet effective three-stage learning pipeline - comprising supervised fine-tuning (SFT), Kahneman-Tversky Optimization (KTO), and Generalized Reward Policy Optimization (GRPO) - that bridges supervised imitation and reinforcement learning. We further construct high-quality datasets for each stage, supporting stable and reproducible training. We evaluate EVA on six video understanding benchmarks, demonstrating its comprehensive capabilities. Compared with existing baselines, EVA achieves a substantial improvement of 6-12% over general MLLM baselines and a further 1-3% gain over prior adaptive agent methods.
