World Tokens: Enhancing Embodied Policies with Training-Time World Modeling

Vision-language-action (VLA) models are a widely adopted paradigm for embodied policies. They excel at efficient closed-loop control but do not explicitly model how physical scenes evolve as a task unfolds. Recently emerging world-action models (WAMs) leverage pretrained video world models to capture spatiotemporal evolution, yet retaining future generation or a large video backbone in the control loop substantially increases inference cost. We introduce World Tokens, an embodied policy architecture built around a World Adapter that bridges visual-language understanding, world-dynamics modeling, and action generation. It uses world modeling during training to enhance the action policy while preserving efficient deployment. Specifically, the World Adapter transforms VLM features into a fixed set of world tokens, which condition a jointly fine-tuned future-video denoiser and simultaneously serve as the action expert's sole visual-language context. This shared conditioning allows gradients from future-video denoising to directly shape the representation used for action prediction, while exclusive routing prevents the policy from bypassing that representation. At deployment, the world-model branch is removed, leaving only the VLM, World Adapter, and action expert, with no online video-model inference. With a 2B backbone and no embodied action pretraining, World Tokens is highly competitive on LIBERO, attains the best reported averages on SIMPLER, substantially improves real-world R1 Pro success over a matched action-only baseline, and generates each action chunk at VLA-level latency.

NeuPAT: Neuron-aware Plasticity Allocation Tuning for Language-Preserving MLLMs

Multimodal expansion of large language models (LLMs) enables new perceptual capabilities but often compromises the language intelligence acquired during pretraining. In this work, we investigate this phenomenon from the perspective of internal adaptation dynamics and discover that neurons in pretrained LLMs exhibit heterogeneous plasticity during multimodal learning: some neurons are critical for preserving language capabilities, while others are more adaptive to multimodal knowledge. Based on this insight, we propose NeuPAT (Neuron-aware Plasticity Allocation Tuning), a lightweight and architecture-agnostic framework that allocates neuron-wise update constraints during multimodal instruction tuning. NeuPAT uses a small-scale probing stage to estimate neuron adaptation patterns and selectively protects language-sensitive neurons while promoting multimodal adaptation through more plastic neurons. Experiments across diverse LLM families demonstrate that NeuPAT recovers 94.5\% of the language capability degradation caused by vanilla tuning on 11 language benchmarks while maintaining comparable multimodal performance, providing an effective approach for capability-preserving multimodal expansion.

AtlasVLA: Persistent World-Ego State Modeling for Vision-Language-Action Models

While Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models have advanced embodied AI, their fundamentally reactive paradigm severely limits performance in partially observable and long-horizon tasks. When restricted to a single wrist-mounted camera, they inevitably suffer from perception forgetting as objects exit the field of view, and temporal task-progress forgetting} during multi-step execution. To overcome these bottlenecks, we propose AtlasVLA, a novel framework that transitions from direct reactive manipulation to proactive reasoning through a persistent world-ego state. AtlasVLA features a dual-memory architecture: a 4D Persistent World State Memory that lifts transient 2D observations into a globally updated, voxel-hashed spatial state to resolve visual blind spots, and an Ego-Working State Memory that tracks historical ego state and task progress. By conditioning a diffusion transformer (DiT) on this joint World-Ego state, AtlasVLA enables robust spatial reasoning. Extensive evaluations across LIBERO, RLBench, and real-world benchmarks demonstrate that AtlasVLA achieves state-of-the-art performance using solely a wrist camera. Remarkably, it decisively outperforms multi-view baselines, yielding absolute success rate improvements of 9.4% on LIBERO-Long and 17.5% in real-world long-horizon tasks.

LongSpace: Exploring Long-Horizon Spatial Memory from Perception to Recall in Video

Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) have advanced image and video understanding and can increasingly handle longer visual inputs. Long-horizon tasks such as autonomous driving and robotic navigation require more than recognizing the current view, as models must remember and retrieve previously observed spatial layouts, routes, viewpoint changes, and object states. To evaluate this capability, we introduce LongSpace-Bench, a room-tour video benchmark for long-horizon spatial memory, covering scene perception, spatial relations, and spatial memory. In this work, we further propose LongSpace, a memory framework for long-video spatial reasoning. LongSpace models long videos as sequential chunks, incorporates 3D structural cues into early decoder layers, and constructs layer-aware memory for question-guided retrieval. Experiments on multiple spatial reasoning benchmarks show that LongSpace improves long-video spatial understanding, further demonstrating explicit spatial memory as a key capability for long-horizon video MLLMs.

When Robots Do the Chores: A Benchmark and Agent for Long-Horizon Household Task Execution

Long-horizon household tasks demand robust high-level planning and sustained reasoning capabilities, which are largely overlooked by existing embodied AI benchmarks that emphasize short-horizon navigation or manipulation and rely on fixed task categories. We introduce LongAct, a benchmark designed to evaluate planning-level autonomy in long-horizon household tasks specified through free-form instructions. By abstracting away embodiment-specific low-level control, LongAct isolates high-level cognitive capabilities such as instruction understanding, dependency management, memory maintenance, and adaptive planning. We further propose HoloMind, a VLM-driven agent with a DAG-based long-horizon hierarchical planner, a Multimodal Spatial Memory for persistent world modeling, an Episodic Memory for experience reuse, and a global Critic for reflective supervision. Experiments with GPT-5 and Qwen3-VL models show that HoloMind substantially improves long-horizon performance while reducing reliance on model scale. Even top models achieve only 59% goal completion and 16% full-task success, underscoring the difficulty of LongAct and the need for stronger long-horizon planning in embodied agents.

M$^3$-VQA: A Benchmark for Multimodal, Multi-Entity, Multi-Hop Visual Question Answering

We present M$^3$-VQA, a novel knowledge-based Visual Question Answering (VQA) benchmark, to enhance the evaluation of multimodal large language models (MLLMs) in fine-grained multimodal entity understanding and complex multi-hop reasoning. Unlike existing VQA datasets that focus on coarse-grained categories and simple reasoning over single entities, M$^3$-VQA introduces diverse multi-entity questions involving multiple distinct entities from both visual and textual sources. It requires models to perform both sequential and parallel multi-hop reasoning across multiple documents, supported by traceable, detailed evidence and a curated multimodal knowledge base. We evaluate 16 leading MLLMs under three settings: without external knowledge, with gold evidence, and with retrieval-augmented input. The poor results reveal significant challenges for MLLMs in knowledge acquisition and reasoning. Models perform poorly without external information but improve markedly when provided with precise evidence. Furthermore, reasoning-aware agentic retrieval surpasses heuristic methods, highlighting the importance of structured reasoning for complex multimodal understanding. M$^3$-VQA presents a more challenging evaluation for advancing the multimodal reasoning capabilities of MLLMs. Our code and dataset are available at https://github.com/CASIA-IVA-Lab/M3VQA.

Thinking in Streaming Video

Real-time understanding of continuous video streams is essential for interactive assistants and multimodal agents operating in dynamic environments. However, most existing video reasoning approaches follow a batch paradigm that defers reasoning until the full video context is observed, resulting in high latency and growing computational cost that are incompatible with streaming scenarios. In this paper, we introduce ThinkStream, a framework for streaming video reasoning based on a Watch--Think--Speak paradigm that enables models to incrementally update their understanding as new video observations arrive. At each step, the model performs a short reasoning update and decides whether sufficient evidence has accumulated to produce a response. To support long-horizon streaming, we propose Reasoning-Compressed Streaming Memory (RCSM), which treats intermediate reasoning traces as compact semantic memory that replaces outdated visual tokens while preserving essential context. We further train the model using a Streaming Reinforcement Learning with Verifiable Rewards scheme that aligns incremental reasoning and response timing with the requirements of streaming interaction. Experiments on multiple streaming video benchmarks show that ThinkStream significantly outperforms existing online video models while maintaining low latency and memory usage. Code, models and data will be released at https://github.com/johncaged/ThinkStream
